Veggie Grill, a Santa Monica, Calif.-based fast casual brand known for its veggie-centric cuisine, raised $22m in equity funding.
Backers included existing shareholder Brentwood Associates, Powerplant Ventures, a venture capital firm founded by Veggie Grill’s co-founders Kevin Boylan and T.K. Pillan; and other current and new investors.
The company intends to use the funds to grow current markets and expand to new markets in the U.S..
Founded in 2006, Veggie Grill has pioneered a fast casual concept offering veggie-centric food in a broad menu of bowls, entrée salads, hot sandwiches, home-style plates, and house-made desserts.
The company operates 28 locations on the West Coast.
