Packet Raises $9.4M in Series A Funding

packetPacket, a NYC-based bare metal cloud for developers, closed a $9.4m Series A funding round.

The round was led by SoftBank Corp. In addition to the capital, the company and SoftBank have formed a strategic partnership to bring bare metal server automation technology and public cloud services to Japan.

The company intends to use the funds to expand in the global cloud marketplace and bring its infrastructure automation expertise to private datacenters.

Founded in 2014 by Zachary Smith, CEO, Packet provides proprietary technology that automates physical servers and networks without the use of virtualization or multi-tenancy to provide on-demand compute and connectivity. The company has existing public cloud datacenters in New York, Silicon Valley and Amsterdam, is entering Asia’s cloud market.
Since launching in August 2015, Packet has seen growth among developers, SaaS platforms and large enterprises, attracting thousands of users and a broad range of use cases, from on-demand private clouds to cloud native platforms built using Docker, Kubernetes, Mesos and more.
