OpenClassrooms, a Paris, France-based edtech company, raised €6m in Series B funding.
Backers included:
– Xavier Niel
– Bpifrance – Fonds Ambition Numérique
– Citizen Capital, and
– Alven Capital.
The company intends to use the funds to continue to hire new people and expand operations in the high education sector.
Founded in 2013 by Mathieu Nebra and Pierre Dubuc, OpenClassrooms develops and runs a platform of MOOCs (Massive Open Online Courses) that are free and open to everyone. Supported by school, university and business partners and a community of 1,800,000 members, OpenClassrooms gathers 1,200 courses and over 3.5 million students every month on its website. A premium service also provides students with unlimited access to course certifications, video and ebook downloads, and the option to learn at one’s own pace, without restrictions.
