Micrima, a Bristol, UK-based breast imaging company, closed a £2.6m funding round.
Backers included Technology Venture Partners LLP, Swarraton Partners, and the University of Bristol Enterprise Fund.
The company intends to use the funds to accelerate development of its technology and start commercialization towards the end of this year.
Led by Roy Johnson, Executive Chairman, Micrima has developed (a CE Mark approved) radiowave imaging technology that aims to enable breast screening to become safer, comfortable and more accessible to a larger proportion of the global female population.
The company is advancing a second version of the “MARIA” system, due to be released early next year, which will offer enhanced functionality, including the ability to automatically distinguish between different types of lesion.
