Color Genomics Raises $45M in Funding

colorColor Genomics, a Burlingame, CA-based provider of genetic information services, raised $45M in funding.

The round was led by General Catalyst with participation from Bono, singer-songwriter and philanthropist, and existing investors Susan L. Wagner, 8VC, Khosla Ventures and Emerson Collective. In conjunction with the funding, Susan L. Wagner, co-founder, former vice chairman, and chief operating officer of BlackRock, and Hemant Taneja, managing director at General Catalyst, joined Color Genomics’ board of directors.

The company, which has raised $60M in total funding, intends to use the funds to further expand its services and build open the databases necessary to further global research and development around major diseases.

Launched in 2015 by Elad Gil, CEO, and Othman Laraki, president, Color Genomics provides the 30-gene Color Test, which analyzes genes closely associated with some of the most common hereditary cancers: breast, colorectal, melanoma, ovarian, pancreatic, prostate, stomach, and uterine cancers.
Color is now present in over 150 countries.
