Xperiel Raises $7M in Funding

xperielXperiel, a Sunnyvale, CA-based Real World Web (RWW) platform, raised $7m in funding.

Backers included Andy Bechtolsheim, Brad O’Neill, John Hennessy, Scott Cook, Dave Scially, Gary Green, Diane Greene and Garrett Camp.

The company will use the funds to further advance its cloud-based platform, to grow its sales and marketing organization and to recruit engineering and executive leadership talent to its team.

Co-founded by Alex Hertel, CEO, and Philipp Hertel, CTO, Xperiel has just launched its cloud-based Real World Web (RWW) platform, which brings mixed reality experiences to consumers by unifying the physical and digital worlds.
The platform provides the tools for building and hosting the RWW, to connect all hardware and software, past, present and future, to the IoT, build cloud-based applications and deliver mixed reality experiences to consumers across any OS or connected device.

Since founding the company, major consumer brands and professional sports teams including PepsiCo, the Los Angeles Dodgers and others have put Xperiel into production to deliver RWW experiences to fans and target audiences through their mobile devices. By connecting digital and physical assets — including everything from stadium scoreboards to signage in major cities to social channels and television — these brands are delivering interactive experiences that increase fan engagement, reward brand loyalty and participation, and improve sales.
