Bot Detection & Mitigation Platform Distil Networks Raises $21M

Distil_logoDistil Networks, Inc., a bot detection and mitigation platform, closed a $21m Series C financing.

Backers included Silicon Valley Bank and existing investors Bessemer Venture Partners, Foundry Group, and TechStars.

The company, which has raised $65m in total funding, plans to use the funds to expand global marketing and sales efforts, strengthen core offerings, and double the current workforce over the next 12-18 months.

Led by Rami Essaid, CEO and co-founder, Distil Networks provides bot detection and mitigation platform tools to protect web applications from bad bots, API abuse, and fraud.
The company offers:
– Distil Web Security, which defends websites against web scraping, competitive data mining, account takeovers, transaction fraud, unauthorized vulnerability scans, spam, man-in-the-middle attacks, digital ad fraud, and downtime, and
– Distil API Security, which protects public and partner-facing APIs against developer errors, integration bugs, automated scraping, and web and mobile hijacking.

Distil recently acquired ScrapeSentry and their expert team of analysts to provide real-time, proactive website traffic analysis, customized reporting, and engineering assistance to enterprise customers.

The company has has 140 employees in San Francisco, CA, Arlington, VA, Raleigh, NC, London, UK, and Stockholm, Sweden.
