Trace Genomics Raises $4M in Seed Funding

trace_genomicsTrace Genomics (previously PathoGn, Inc.), a San Francisco, CA-based developer of a proprietary molecular assay for soil-borne pathogens, raised $4m in seed funding.

The round was led by Refactor Capital, with participation from Fall Line Capital, Viking Global and Illumina, which accelerated the company through its dedicated program.

The company is using the funds to launch its first panel.

Co-founded by Diane Wu and Poornima Parameswaran, Trace Genomics provides a molecular assay for soil and seed-borne pathogens that enables the detection of hundreds of pathogens and beneficial organisms simultaneously.
The company’s first microbiome test for the food supply allows farmers and growers to receive a kit for testing diseases affecting strawberry and lettuce. Trace Genomics will launch the test for new crops in the coming months.
