NerdWallet, a San Francisco, CA-based personal finance company, acquired aboutLife, a San Francisco, CA-based retirement planning startup.
The amount of the deal was not disclosed.
Founded in 2012 by Rajat Kongovi, a former Project Leader at the Boston Consulting Group and later COO of social network hi5, aboutLife aims to simplify financial choices for families.
The six member company was backed by venture capital firm Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers. The aboutLife team joined NerdWallet in late May and will continue working together alongside other Nerds focusing on the retirement and investing space.
Led by founder and Tim Chen, CEO, Bhaskar Ghosh, Vice President of Engineering, Operations and Security, and Christina LaMontagne, head of Corporate Development, NerdWallet provides consumers and small businesses with financial decision tools, research and expert advice about credit cards, bank accounts, mortgages, insurance, loans or expenses like hospital costs and medical bills.
The company is backed by IVP, RRE Ventures, iGlobe Partners and Silicon Valley Bank.
