theSkimm, a NYC-based multi-platform audience company that curates news, events, and information for millennials, raised $8m in Series B funding.
The round was led by 21st Century Fox with participation from existing investors RRE Ventures, Greycroft Partners and Homebrew.
The company intends to use the funds to continue to expand its product offerings.
Founded by entrepreneurs Danielle Weisberg and Carly Zakin, theSkimm provides the Daily Skimm newsletter, its core product, which reaches over 3.5 million active subscribers. Last month, the company launched Skimm Ahead, a paid subscription app for iPhone.
Future plans include original video content, produced and distributed under a new umbrella called Skimm Studios.
