Edtech Company Flocabulary Raises $1.5M in Funding

flocabularyFlocabulary, a Brooklyn, NY-based library of songs, videos and activities for K-12 online learning, raised $1.5m in a convertible note.

Rethink Education provided the funding.

The company will use the funds to expand operations and hire new people.

Led by CEO Alex Rappaport, Flocabulary is a web-based learning program for all grades and subjects that uses educational hip-hop music to engage students and increase achievement. Its standards-based videos, instructional activities and formative assessments have been used by teachers in more than 50,000 schools to develop core literacy skills and supplement instruction across the curriculum.
