Draper Richards Kaplan Foundation Launches $65M Social Fund

drk.logoMenlo Park-based global venture philanthropy firm The Draper Richards Kaplan Foundation has launched a $65m fund to support social enterprises.

The new fund will find, fund and support 100 early stage, high impact social enterprises that are tackling some of the world’s most challenging problems in the world, including access to healthcare, education, poverty alleviation, opportunity equality, social justice, and the environment.

Co-founded by William H. Draper, III and Robin Richards Donohoe, who joined forces in 2010 with Robert S. Kaplan, formerly vice-chairman of Goldman Sachs and a professor of leadership at Harvard Business School and currently the President and CEO of the Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas, The Draper Richards Kaplan Foundation is a global venture philanthropy firm that raises capital from a diverse group of partners including individual donors, family foundations, private foundations, and corporate partners to support nonprofit organizations and social entrepreneurs.

The organization is led by Jim Bildner, CEO.

Earliest investments include Room to Read, Kiva, One Acre Fund and EducationSuperHighway while recent ones include Crisis Text Line.
