Digital Freight Forwarder & Marketplace iContainers Raises $6.7m in Funding

icontainersiContainers, a Miami, Fla.-based digital freight forwarder and marketplace for instant quotes and booking, raised $6.7m in funding.

The round was led by Serena Capital with participation from existing investors Kibo Ventures and Vitamina K. In conjunction with the funding, Anne-Valèrie Bach, partner at Serena Capital, joined iContainers’ Board of Directors.

The company, which has raised $9m in total to date, intends to use the funds to accelerate product development, increase global awareness of iContainers services, and expand its global presence in North Europe, Asia and South America.

Founded in 2007 by Iván Tintore and Carlos Hernández, iContainers provides a platform that allows users to browse options for freight services, shipping rates, and scheduling times, with the option for door-to-door pickup.

The company, which also has offices in Spain and India, currently serves more than 250,000 ocean trade routes to more than 1,200 destinations, or 300 ports in the US, Europe, Asia, Australia, Latin America, and Africa.
