Felix & Paul Studios, a Los Angeles, CA- and Montreal, Canada-based maker of cinematic virtual reality experiences, closed a $6.8m Series A funding.
The round was led by Comcast Ventures, with participation from Caisse de dépôt et placement du Québec, LDV Partners, and existing investor Phi Group. In conjunction with the funding, Michael Yang, Managing Director of Comcast Ventures, will join the Felix & Paul Studios board of directors.
The studio will use the funds to grow its team and production capacity for its content pipeline, enhance its proprietary VR cameras, expand its production and post-production software suite and distribution of its virtual reality experiences and apps to more platforms and international markets.
Led by Félix Lajeunesse, Paul Raphaël, and Stéphane Rituit, Felix & Paul Studios creates original cinematic experiences (“Nomads” and “Strangers”) and collaborates with existing franchises (“Jurassic World”, Cirque du Soleil and “Wild”) and personalities (President Bill Clinton, LeBron James).
The company, which has also developed a full-stack VR technology platform – including proprietary VR camera systems and accompanying post-production software and process, currently employs 37 VR specialists across offices in Montreal and Los Angeles.
