ADI_weblogo2Animated Dynamics Inc., an Indianapolis-based developer of patented bio-dynamic imaging technology to improve targeted cancer treatments, raised $1.7m in a Series A equity funding.

Backers included Caravel Ventures, Elevate Ventures, Purdue Research Foundation and Vestian.

The company, which had previously received over $1 million in grants awarded by the National Science Foundation, National Institutes of Health and others, intends to use the funds to accelerate commercialization of its imaging technology, patented through the Purdue Research Foundation’s Office of Technology Commercialization.

Co-founded by chief scientific officer David Nolte, the Edward M. Purcell Distinguished Professor of Physics at Purdue University, who developed the technology at Purdue, vice president John J. Turek, Purdue professor of basic medical sciences, and chief technical officer Ran An, a Purdue graduate assistant, and led by CEO Ted Schenberg, a principal in Caravel, and COO and CFO Travis Morgan, Caravel principal, Animated Dynamics invented Motility Contrast Tomography (MCT), a digital holography which measures kinetic activity at the nano-scale providing a clear view into the physical processes at work within living tissue, allowing researchers and clinicians to quantify the phenomic signature of tissue in three dimensions and measure response to stimuli over time.
The company’s Onco 4D™ test for phenomic chemotherapy selection is expected to become clinically available during 2017.
