HIL Applied Medical Ltd., a Jerusalem, Israel-based medical technology startup, acquired Nanolabz Inc., a Reno, Nevada-based company focused on developing and fabricating smart targets for laser-based proton acceleration.
The amount of the deal was not disclosed.
The acquisition doubles HIL’s patent portfolio, adds complimentary talent to its team, and provides a strong base for HIL’s US operations.
Born out of University of Nevada, Reno research, by co-founders Dr. Jesse Adams, Mr. Steven Malekos and president Mr. Grant Korgan, Nanolabz develops and fabricates smart nano-engineered targets for the short-pulse laser R&D sector. The company’s IP and developed laser physics targets and alignment system technology aims to create proton sources for research and cancer therapy.
Led by Mr. Sagi Brink-Danan, Chief Executive Officer, HIL Applied Medical is developing a new class of compact and high-performance Proton Beam Therapy systems, based on high-intensity lasers and nano-engineered smart targetry.
