Zubie, a Charleston, South Carolina-based connected-car platform and telematics provider serving enterprises, small businesses and consumers, secured $6m in funding.
Backers included Melody Capital Partners and existing investors OpenAir Equity Partners, Castrol innoVentures, Comporium, Nokia Growth Partners and Magna.
The company intends to use the funds to expand into the enterprise market, to enhance the API platforms, and to gror operations and staff.
Formed in 2012 and led by Tim Kelly, CEO, Zubie provides a service for business enterprises including automotive, insurance, and mobile/telecom operators, as well as consumers and small businesses to connects cars to the internet to deliver real time location, trip history, maintenance alerts, engine diagnostics and driving insights to a smartphone.
The company also offers the ZinC Open API platform, which allows a diverse set of developers and partners to create apps leveraging its platform and vehicle data.
