Cheetah Mobile Announces $50M Initiative to Invest in Robotics

The company will invest $50m into deep learning and artificial intelligence R&D. Cheetah Mobile CEO Sheng Fu is personally investing in the venture.

Cheetah Mobile (NYSE: CMCM) is a mobile security and utility app developer whose flagship products include cleaning app Clean Master and anti-virus and privacy protection app CM Security. The company is also one of the top three mobile game developers in the world, with its mobile game Piano Tiles 2 having reached the No. 1 ranking in more than 150 countries globally on both iOS and Android.
Other applications include Battery Doctor, CM Locker, Photo Grid. In June 2015, the company introduced the Cheetah Ad Platform to the global market.
As of December 31, 2015, Cheetah Mobile had approximately 2.34 billion global installations and 635 million global mobile monthly active users.

Along with the above mentioned investment initiative, the company revealed a data-driven content strategy that will start with Toupai, a short video service designed for online influencers and fans.
