Unispectral, a Ramat Gan, Israel-based startup developing camera sensors with next-generation seeing and sensing capabilities, closed a $7.5m Series A funding.
Backers included Jerusalem Venture Partners (JVP), RBVC ( Robert Bosch Venture Capital), Samsung Catalyst Fund (the early stage investment arm of Samsung Strategy & Innovation Center) and The Tel Aviv University Technology Innovation Momentum Fund.
The company intends to use the funds to hire additional talent and expedite product development.
Established in 2016 and led by CEO Rami Feig, Unispectral is developing a hyperspectral imaging sensor technology which applies MEMS technology to distinguish material properties in solids, liquids and gases and provide low light and rich color photography capabilities. Based on seven years of research conducted at Tel-Aviv University and backed by multiple patents, the technology is applicable to a wide range of use cases such as wearables, digital health and medical imaging, Internet of Things, industrial and agriculture applications, etc.
