StarOfService, a Paris, France-based local services platform, unveiled it secured €1.5m in two funding rounds.
Backers included Frédéric Mazzella, Francis Nappez, Ralph Werner, Oleg Tscheltzoff, Point 3 Capital and Kima Ventures. In addition, Klaus Nyengaard, former CEO and Chairman of JustEat, has been appointed Head of Advisory Board.
The company, which is also raising a Series A funding round, intends to use the funds to expand operations globally and “take on Thumbtack for domination of the $400 billion local services market”.
Led by Lucas Lambertini, co-founder and CEO, StarOfService allows consumers to find local services to meet their specific needs, including photographers, dance teachers or DJs. It currently receives 96,700 monthly requests.
The company, which already has a presence in key markets such as the UK (www.starofservice.co.uk), Italy (www.starofservice.it), Spain (www.starofservice.es), Germany (www.starofservice.de), Brazil (www.starofservice.com.br) and Russia (www.starofservice.ru), is now looking to expand into 80 other countries around the world including India (www.starofservice.in), Turkey (www.starofservice.web.tr), Australia (www.starofservice.com.au) and Canada (www.starofservice.ca).
