Preempt Security, a San Francisco, Calif.–based still in stealth enterprise security software startup, raised $8m in Series A funding.
The round was led by General Catalyst Partners with participation from Mickey Boodaei and Rakesh Loonkar, the founders of Trusteer, and Paul Sagan, the former CEO of Akamai Technologies.
The company intends to use the funds to expand marketing and sales efforts, and accelerate product development.
Led by Ajit Sancheti, founder and CEO, Preempt is building enterprise security software addressing the challenges of enterprise breaches and insider threats. In addition to the funding, the company announced the appointment of Heather Howland to vice president of marketing, where she will be responsible for building the company’s go to market plan and global marketing strategy to further establish the company in the enterprise. Prior to joining Preempt, Howland was vice president of marketing for Lacoon Mobile Security. Previously, she led worldwide digital strategy for the IBM Security Division IBM and held senior marketing positions at Q1 Labs, BlackBerry and Ascendent Systems.
Preempt also has offices in Ramat Gan, Israel.
