Dispatch Raises $2M in Seed Funding

Dispatch, a South San Francisco, CA-based autonomous delivery vehicle company, raised $2M in seed funding.

The round was led by Andreessen Horowitz (Chris Dixon), with participation from Precursor Ventures (Charles Hudson).

The company intends to use the funds to make key hires and grow its fleet of autonomous vehicles.

Co-founded Sonia Jin, Stav Braun, Uriah Baalke, and Buddy Gardineer, Dispatch is advancing Carry, a vehicle that travels on sidewalks and brings deliveries. At about three feet long and tall, and as wide as a person standing, Carry travels at walking speeds (up to 4 miles per hour) and safely navigates pedestrian walkways. Carry has multiple compartments, allowing it to complete several deliveries per trip. Once en-route, users can track their delivery and upon arrival receive a notification.
Users unlock the vehicle with their phones, grab their items, and Carry is off to its next delivery.

The company is currently piloting on two college campuses in California: Menlo College and CSU Monterey Bay.
