Sakara Life Raises $4.8M in Series A Funding

sakaraSakara Life, a NYC-based organic meal delivery service, raised $4.8M in Series A funding round.

Backers included angel investors Jeff Boyd and Bob Mylod, former CEO and CFO of Priceline, as well as SV Angel, among others.

The company intends to use the funds to scale operations.

sakaralife-cofoundersCo-founded in 2012 by Whitney Tingle and Danielle DuBoise, Sakara Life is a wellness and lifestyle brand delivering organic, nutritionally-designed and ready-to-eat meals directly to clients’ homes. All meals contain nutrient-dense, plant-based ingredients and are free of dairy, gluten, pesticides, chemicals, additives, preservatives, flavorings and dyes.
Clients can also read Sakara Life’s S-Life Magazine, which is dedicated to allowing them to understand the impact of their thoughts, actions and food intake on their overall wellbeing, physically, emotionally and spiritually as well as getting access to its Clean Boutique, which offers more than 30 products stocked full of functional ingredients.

The company, which bootstrapped with $700 raised at a dinner party, is on track to deliver nearly 40,000 meals monthly across the U.S., and expects sales to double in 2016.

Sakara Life operates offices in NY and LA.
