Mitú, a Santa Monica, CA-based latino digital media company, secured $27m in Series C funding.
Backers included new investors AwesomenessTV, WPP Digital, and Verizon Ventures as well as existing investors Upfront Ventures.
The company, which has raised $43m in funding to date, intends to use the funds to invest in product and technology to expand its content publishing platform and audience data tools, launch its influencer-marketing platform (mituberos.com) as well as grow its ecosystem of apps.
Led by Roy Burstin, Chief Executive Officer, mitú is a tech-media brand that teams up with top digital talent to create culturally relevant content for young audiences everywhere. The company operates content properties (WeAreMitu.com) and social media feeds on platforms such as Facebook and YouTube, which have become reference destinations for Latino youth culture.
It has 2 billion global monthly views and a community of more than 6,000 Latino creators.
