Insurify Raises $2M in Seed Funding

insurify_logoInsurify, a Cambridge, MA-based marketplace for people to shop car insurance, raised $2m in seed funding.

The round was led by Rationalwave Capital Partners.

Led by CEO and co-founder Snejina Zacharia, an MIT Sloan Fellow and former Director of Business Development at Gartner, Insurify operates an intelligent insurance agent that uses predictive modeling and advanced analytics for shopping car insurance. A MIT spinout, the company announced a limited public beta release of Evia (which stands for Expert Virtual Insurance Agent), a patent-pending virtual insurance agent that makes it simple to find car insurance by snapping a photo of a license plate and text it to the agent. Evia will then deliver back policy quotes and recommendations via text message.
Currently available in 30 states, Insurify has partnered with the largest agencies and carriers in the US to quote 82 carriers in real-time.

The company’s board of directors also includes Giorgos Zacharia (CTO of Kayak), George Kassabgi (former CEO of Bit9 and Keas) and Mark Rosenblatt (founder of Rationalwave).
