PointGrab Raises $5M in Funding

pointgrabPointGrab, a Hod Hasharon, Israel-based machine learning and computer vision company, raised $5m in funding.

Backers included ABB Technology Ventures, EcoMachines Ventures, Flex Lab IX, and Saar Wilf, PointGrab’s Chairman and first investor.

The company intends to use the funds to expand into the home and building-automation market.

Founded by Saar Wilf, Haim Perski and Amir Kaplan and also led by chief business officer Itamar Roth, PointGrab is a machine learning and computer vision company that applies its technology to over 27,000,000 installations on devices from consumer electronics companies Samsung, Lenovo, Fujitsu, Acer and others.
By embedding deep learning technology into optical sensing IoT devices, the company’s products provide detailed information about activity within buildings to support energy-saving, facility management, occupant comfort and safety, as well as business intelligence.
