Gousto Raises £9M in Funding

goustoGousto, a London, UK-based recipe box delivery company, raised £9m in funding.

Backers included BGF Ventures (£3m), MMC Ventures, Unilever Ventures, the Angel Co-Fund and Andi Peters. In conjunction with the funding, Simon Calver, a partner at BGF Ventures, joined Gousto’s board of directors.

The company intends to use the funds to strengthen its team of chefs and nutritionists, broaden its sales and marketing efforts to reach more customers, and continue to introduce meal and delivery options.

Founded in 2012 and led by Timo Schmidt, CEO, Gousto lets customers choose recipes from a weekly menu of ten meals, and delivers all the ingredients in exact portions to their doors across all of the UK. Delivery is free, and meals cost between £3-5. Last month, it delivered more than 300,000 meals to homes throughout the UK. Earlier this year, the company launched a free iOS app where customers can plan, order and arrange delivery of meals.
Gousto has over 120 employees with operations in London and Lincolnshire.
