In conjunction with the funding, Simon Williams, chairman and CEO of Camelot, joined NerdWallet’s board of directors. Mr Williams — a former CEO of Citibank Retail Banking and group head of HSBC Wealth Management and actively involved in Lending Club, where he is a director, and OnDeck Capital, where he is an investor and former director — will leverage his experience in banking to help grow NerdWallet. The investment brought NerdWallet’s Series A funding to $69m having the company announced a $64m close in May 2015.
Led by Tim Chen, co-founder and CEO, NerdWallet provides consumers with a platform featuring online tools, research and experts advice to navigate the world of credit cards, insurance, loans or expenses like hospital costs.
The company currently has more than 270 employees.
