Figure 1, Toronto, Ontario, Canada-based provider of a medical image database and app for healthcare, raised an additional $5m in Series A funding.
The round was led by Union Square Ventures with participation from existing investors Graph Ventures, Version One Ventures and Rho Canada Ventures, Allen & Company and other individual investors.
The company, which ha raised $10.6m in total funding, intends to use the capital to grow globally and translate the app into Spanish and Chinese.
Led by Gregory Levey, CEO, Figure 1 provides an HIPAA-compliant app that allows healthcare professionals to share high-quality medical images within their fields of specialty including patient photos, brain scans or X-rays for teaching purposes and to get feedback about possible diagnoses and treatments.
According to the company, approx. 50,000 professionals use the service daily with members coming from over 100 countries.
