Coursera Raises $11.6M in Second Close of Series C Financing

Coursera_LogoCoursera, a Mountain View, CA-based provider of a platform for open-access courses from universities, raised $11.6m in the second close of its Series C financing.

EDBI, the corporate investment arm of the Singapore Economic Development Board, made the investment. This second closing brught Coursera’s total Series C funding to $61.1m having the company announced the $49.5m first tranche in August 2015.

Coursera will use the funding to expand its efforts to source new, career-relevant content and improve the learning experience to meet the needs of learners in Asia, one of its fastest-growing markets.

Co-founded in 2012 by Stanford computer scientists Daphne Koller and Andrew Ng, and led by Rick Levin, CEO, Coursera now offers more than 15 million registered learners around the globe access to over 1,400 courses and 80 Specializations from 130+ top universities and educational organizations.
