People Power, a Palo Alto, CA-based user engagement company providing apps, cloud and mobile services for the Internet of Things (IoT), raised $4.4m in Series B funding.
The round was led by MediaTek.
The company intends to use the funds to further accelerate its expansion in the IoT market in both the U.S. and China, develop new IoT products based on its Fabrux and Influx software architecture, and make additional hires in sales, marketing and engineering.
Founded in 2009 by Gene Wang, CEO, People Power offers the Internet of Things FabrUX software, which enables manufacturers and service providers to launch products and services using ready-made cloud and mobile software stacks. Its consumer app, Presence, transforms spare smart devices into wireless video cameras and gives users the ability to secure and control their homes from their mobile device.
The app is also available as a white-labeled software app framework.
