Tinypass and Piano Media Merge to Create Piano

pianoTinypass and Piano Media, two companies working in the content monetization and paywall software arena, have merged to create Piano, a SaaS company specializing in advanced media business processes and online commerce optimization software.

The new company, based in New York City, will be led by Chief Executive Trevor Kaufman, previously CEO of Tinypass. Kelly Leach, Piano Media’s former CEO, will be serving as a senior adviser to the company and joining Piano’s board.

Accoring to a note, the deal reflects the need for comprehensive monetization, intelligence and analytics tools to support media businesses’ efforts to move to paid models for digital content.
In addition to providing media companies with the capacity to implement an array of pay and subscription models, Piano also offers advanced data and CRM capabilities to allow content companies to identify and segment their audience, enabling business models targeted to the individual user.

The platform also integrates with existing advertising solutions, allowing clients to optimize their mix of paid and ad-supported media.

Clients include NBC Universal, Time Inc., The McClatchy Company, The EW Scripps Company, Postmedia Network Inc., News Corp. and IBT Media and more than 1,200 other news and media providers around the world.

Headquartered at One World Trade Center in New York, the company has European offices in Slovakia, Austria and Poland.
