FanDuel Acquires numberFire

FanDuel-LogoFanDuel Inc., a New York City-based one-day fantasy sports operator, acquired numberFire, a next generation sports analytics platform.

The terms of the deal, which followed the acquihire of Kotikan, a Scotland-based app developer, were not disclosed.

Led by Nik Bonaddio, CEO and Founder, numberFire uses proprietary statistics to mine for insights that predict player and team performance. Its editorial team publishes the data on their website, while the company’s analytics and tools are available to sports fans through subscriptions and media companies through licensing.
Following the acquisition, the site will remain operational while the proprietary information will be incorporated into FanDuel’s platform to increase user engagement and expand on product offerings for users.

Founded in 2009 by Nigel Eccles, CEO, FanDuel is a daily fantasy sports provider offering a multitude of one-day game options for NFL, NBA, MLB, NHL, and college football and basketball, with new public and private leagues forming daily.
The company, which also has offices in Los Angeles, Orlando, Edinburgh and Glasgow, raised $363m in funding from investors including KKR, Google Capital, Time Warner/Turner Sports, Shamrock Capital, NBC Sports Ventures, Comcast Ventures, Pentech Ventures, Piton Capital and Bullpen Capital.
