Village Capital Launches $13.2M VilCap Investments

villagecapitalWashington DC-based Village Capital today announced $13.2 million to launch VilCap Investments, a new investment vehicle that aims to make 100 investments in 75 peer-selected companies globally over the life of the fund.

Founded in 2009 and led by Executive Director Ross Baird, Village Capital has invested more than $2 million in companies that have created 7,000 jobs and raised $50m in follow-on capital.
The fund includes a diverse group of LPs, including internet pioneers, investors, and philanthropists like Jean and Steve Case, and The Kapor Center for Social Impact, founded by technology leaders Mitch Kapor and Freada Kapor Klein.

VilCap Investments is also announcing a partnership the U.S. Global Development Lab at the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID), with the Partnering to Accelerate Entrepreneurship (PACE) Initiative.
