Sportlogiq Closes $1.7M Seed Financing

sportlogiqSportlogiq Inc., a Montreal, Canada-based portfolio company of technology incubator TandemLaunch, closed a $1.7m seed financing.

The round was led by Tim Tokarsky with participatiom from Mark Cuban, TandemLaunch, Anges Quebec Capital S.E.C. along with 18 angel investors.

The company intends to use the funds to continue to develop and commercialize its player tracking and analytics platform.

Led by Craig Buntin, co-founder and CEO, and Mehrsan Javan, co-founder and CTO, Sportlogiq is a computer vision technology company that uses standard, single camera game footage to provide advanced sports analytics to broadcast media and professional teams. The technology was originally developed by Javan as his PhD thesis, under the supervision of Martin Levine at McGill University. It has been improved upon and productized over the course of the past year while within TandemLaunch.
The company is currently working with a number of NHL teams to provide data-backed insights into player and team performance.
