Sailsquare Raises €500K in Seed Funding

sailsquare_logoSailsquare, a Milan, Italy-based worldwide “social” platorm focused on shared sailing holidays, raised €500k in seed funding.

Backers included LigurCapital and some other private investors.

The company intends to use the funds to consolidate its business in Italy, and to enter new markets in Europe and America (with the Caribbean Sea as their first target).

Founded in June 2012 by Riccardo Boat and Simone Marini, Sailsquare connects people with travel experiences on the coasts and the islands of Italy, Spain, Croata, Greece, Turkey, France and the Canary Islands, with new routes to be added within the year.
The platform offers verifed profles of users, a secure payment system, selected skippers and boats and a system of reviews to provide maximum comfort and safety to travelers.
The company has a community of over 25,000 travelers, with more than 500 boat owners.
