Booktrack, a San Francisco, CA-based company that enriches the eBook experience by adding movie-style soundtracks and ambient audio, closed $5m Series B funding round.
The round, which had previously raised $3m in Series A financing, was co-led by Coent Venture Partners and Sparkbox Ventures.
The company intends to use the funds to increase marketing efforts, acquire premium content and allow publishers or musicians to create and sell Booktrack titles through the Booktrack marketplace.
Led by CEO Paul Cameron, Booktrack synchronizes movie-style soundtracks and ambient sounds to eBooks. Music, ambient audio, and sound effects are automatically paced to an individual’s reading speed and synchronized to complement and enhance the story while a person reads increasing comprehension and enjoyment.
It is used by nearly 2.5 million readers while authors and publishers can create their own Booktrack titles by matching their stories to an extensive library of over 20,000 free-to-use music and ambient audio tracks.
