Boaterfly Raises €500K in Funding

Boaterfly, a French provider of peer-to-peer boat rentals, raised €500k in funding.

Backers included a pool of business angel from the web, yachting and industrial sectors.

The company intends to use the funds to expand its service in France and Europe.

Launched in late 2013 by Guillaume de Corbiac – President, Boaterfly allows owners to rent their boat with or without skipper, to amortize boat trips by co-navigating, and to monetize their boat by offering nights at the dock as alternative to hotels. Supported by many partners, including the French Nautical Industries Federation, the startup also offers a custom designed pay by day insurance policy with Allianz.
It will soon launch its mobile application to facilitate exchanges within the user community.

Launched with 50 boats, the company currently operates 700 boats in France and other 30 countries including Spain, Italy, Croatia, Sweden, Turkey.
