Switch Raises $35M in Funding

switch_logoSwitch Communications (formerly known as Firespotter Labs), a San Francisco-based cloud business phone system, raised $35m in Series C round of funding.

The round was led by Amasia Associates with participation from Felicis Ventures, SoftBank, Work-Bench Ventures and previous investors Andreessen Horowitz and Google Ventures. In conjunction with the funding, John Kim, Managing Partner at Amasia, will join Switch Communicationsp board of directors.

The company had previously raised $18m.

Founded by Craig Walker, Switch recently launched a cloud-based business phone system with tools designed to give businesses a unified communications (UC) experience across devices. The service allows workers to be connected to their company’s phone system from any device (desk phone, mobile phone or laptop) and allows users to control their calls on the app, recording and transferring calls, as well as switching between voice and SMS or chat.
Switch is integrated with Google Apps. A social profile includes recent Gmail messages, shared Google Docs, upcoming Calendar invites, LinkedIn profiles, and the ability to launch a video call through Hangouts.
It also provides UberConference, a teleconferencing and productivity tool.
