Synopsys, Inc. (Nasdaq:SNPS), a Mountain View, CA-based provider of products and services that accelerate innovation in the global electronics market, is to acquire Oulu, Finland-based software security company Codenomicon.
The amount of the transaction, which is subject to customary closing conditions and is expected to close within 30 days, was not disclosed.
Led by Rauli Kaksonen, Codenomicon focuses on software embedded in chips and devices. It provides Defensics, a tool used to discover the Heartbleed bug that automatically tests the target system for unknown vulnerabilities, allowing developers to find and fix them before a product goes to market; and AppCheck, a tool that enables customers to obtain a software bill of materials (BOM) for their application portfolios, and identify components with known vulnerabilities.
Its customer base includes some of the world’s leading organizations in telecommunications, finance, manufacturing, software development, healthcare, automotive and government agencies.
The company’s solutions will help Synopsys deliver a more comprehensive security offering for the software development lifecycle by adding both Defensics® and AppCheck™ tools.
