Simplilearn Raises $15M in Series C Venture Capital Funding

simplilearnSimplilearn, a San Francisco, CA-based edtech startup providing certification courses to professionals, raised $15m in Series C venture capital funding.

The round was led by Mayfair, with participation from existing investors Kalaari Capital and Helion Venture Partners.

The company, which has now raised a total of $27m in capital, intends to use the funds to continue to invest in the platform, expand course coverage, and grow in the US and other primary markets.

Founded in 2009 by Krishna Kumar, CEO, Simplilearn offers training and certifications for business use and career advancement. Its learning platform offers a combination of online classes, in-person workshops and corporate trainings, all led by the company’s over 2,000 qualified trainers.
The company currently offers over 200 courses and over 40 global accreditations (representing 20 certification bodies such as PMI, Exelos, Scrum Alliance, Peoplecert, and The Open Group and now diversifying into vendor certification like those from Microsoft, Cisco, and Salesforce). According to a note, more than 400,000 people have been certified using Simplilearn in courses including Hadoop, Six Sigma, PMP and SAP among others.
