Ortho Kinematics‚ Inc., an Austin, Texas-based healthcare diagnostics company focused on spine imaging informatics, closed a $9.6m Series C equity financing.Investors included Medtronic, Inc.; TEXO Ventures; MB Venture Partners; and other previous and new investors. In conjunction with the funding, Gary Stevenson, co-founder and Managing Partner of MB Venture Partners, joined Ortho’s board of directors.
The company intends to use the funds to to expand sales and marketing efforts as well as for limited research and development activities.
Led by Paul Gunnoe, CEO, Ortho Kinematics offers the VMA (Vertebral Motion Analysis), a product for the radiographic assessment of spinal motion and instability. After securing FDA clearance for the VMA and completing a limited-scale commercial launch, the company is currently ramping up efforts to support a full scale commercial launch within the U.S. and Europe.
