IIX Inc., a Santa Clara, CA-based software-defined interconnection company, raised $20m in funding.
TriplePoint Capital, based in Menlo Park, CA, made the investment.
The company intends to use the funds to expand its global ecosystem.
Led by Al Burgio, Founder and CEO, IIX provides a platform that enables programmable interconnection between networks allowing content providers, data center providers, Internet Service Providers (ISPs), carriers and other enterprises globally to gain control, improve security and reduce costs associated with IP transit delivery, optimize network performance and extend network reach across the globe.
The company also acquired global interconnection company IX Reach to extend its global interconnection presence to various regions across North America, Europe, the Middle East and Asia, increasing its total network Points of Presence (PoP) count to more than 150.
The financial terms of the acquisition agreement were not disclosed.
