CargoSense Closes $2.5M Seed Funding Round

CargoSense MicroAnalytics DashboardCargoSense, a Reston, Virginia-based big data and analytics SaaS company, closed a $2.5m seed funding round.

Backers included IrishAngels, Middleburg Capital Development and Virginia’s Center for Innovative Technology.

The company intends to use the funds to expand sales, marketing and development teams, drive new product innovations and customer acquisition activities.

Led by CEO Rich Kilmer, CargoSense provides a Software-as-a-Service-based smart data and microanalytics platform focused on supply chain logistics for the pharmaceutical, cold chain, and refrigerated storage industries. The solution records what a product experiences, including temperature, light, humidity, pressure, shock, and tilt from origin to destination and allows users to combine these values to form climate ranges for each product they ship including pharmaceuticals, biologics, medical devices, food, and other climate sensitive cargo. It also enables the sharing of data with supply chain partners, ensuring a single view of the environmental measures captured for a shipment.
