3DR Raised Additional Financing; Closes Series C Round at $64M

3DR_logo3DR, a Berkeley, CA-based manufacturer of consumer drones and founder of an open drone software platform, raised an additional $14m in Series C round of venture capital financing.

The company initiated the round with $50m in investment led by Qualcomm Ventures, with Foundry Group, True Ventures, OATV, Mayfield, Shea Ventures (read here).

This additional portion was led by WestSummit Capital, with additional global investors from Asia, Europe and the U.S. participating, including SanDisk Ventures and Atlantic Bridge Ventures.

Founded in 2009 by CEO Chris Anderson and Jordi Munoz, 3DR is a personal drone company which develops advanced drone technology accessible to consumers for a wide range of everyday exploration and photography, and for applications using data analysis, mapping, surveying and 3D modeling for agriculture, construction, infrastructure, search and rescue and ecological study.

The company currently operates with over 275 employees in North America and more than 100,000 customers worldwide.
