Vanhawks Raises $1.6M in Seed Funding

vanhawksVanhawks, a Toronto, Canada-based hardware tech startup, raised $1.6m in seed funding.

The round was led by Real Ventures with participation from Y Combinator, Funders Club, Mike McCauley, Devon Galloway and Michael Litt of Garage Fund, Relentless Pursuits Partners, and additional vc and angel investors.

The company intends to use the funds to hire new people and accelerate development and production of its flagship product, the Valour.

Led by Sohaib Zahid, co-founder and CEO, Vanhawks is building a bicycle featuring integration of sensors, GPS navigation and WiFi connectivity to enhance the riding experience on urban streets with a focus on safety and comfort.
The company was accelerated within Y Combinator and held a successful Kickstarter campaign in 2014.
