Dataminr Raises $130M in Growth Capital

Dataminr_Logo_cDataminr, a New York, NY-based real-time information discovery company, raised $130m in growth capital.

The round was led by Fidelity Management and Research Company, with participation from Wellington Management Company LLP, Credit Suisse NEXT Investors, WorldQuant Ventures, Glynn Capital and Goldman Sachs as well as existing investors Venrock and Institutional Venture Partners. New individual investors included:
– John Mack, former CEO of Morgan Stanley;
– Vikram Pandit, former CEO of Citigroup;
– Tom Glocer, former CEO of Reuters;
– Noam Gottesman (TOMS Capital LLC), founder of the hedge fund GLG; and
– Nicolas Berggruen, founder of the Berggruen Institute on Governance.

The company intends to use the funds to expand into a number of new markets, integrate new datasets into its algorithmic engine to enhance its Twitter-based signals and broaden the offerings.

Led by Ted Bailey, CEO and Founder, Dataminr uses proprietary algorithms to instantly analyze all public tweets and other publicly available data to provide its clients with real-time information and to deliver relevant signals and contextual analytics. Its technology is available to clients through high-value applications and customizable APIs.

The company currently serves customers in finance, the public sector, news, security, and crisis management.
