Wooplr Raises $5M in Series A Funding

Wooplr, a Bangalore, India-based mobile fashion discovery and shopping platform, raised US$ 5m in Series A funding.

The round was led by Helion Ventures. In conjunction with the funding, Mr. Rahul Chandra, Co-Founder and Managing Director, Helion Ventures joined Wooplr’s Board of Directors.

The funds will be used to hire people, expand the team and grow the community.

Founded by Arjun Zacharia, Soumen Sarkar, Praveen Rajaretnam and Ankit Sabharwal, Wooplr provides an app supporting people in the decision making process of what to buy and where to shop based on their interests, location and social circle. The user receives a personalized feed of curated fashion products leveraging a growing community of shoppers (80% are women), who share fashion inspirations and the latest trends.
The Wooplr mobile app was released in December, 2013 and is currently available for Android, iOS and the mobile web.

The company had previously raised $225k from a group of angel investors including Rahul Khanna, Sunil Kalra, Vivek Pandit and Jaspreet Bindra.
