Blume Distillation LLC, a Santa Cruz, CA-based provider of bioethanol production equipment, received $1m in Series B funding.
The investor was GreenTech seed and venture fund Climate Change Investigation, Innovation and Investment Company (CC3IC).
The company intends to use the funds to accelerate IP filings and licensing as well as design, development and commercial roll-out of its biorefinery systems.
Led by David Blume, CEO, Blume Distillation provides biorefinery equipment for the production of bioethanol and related alcohol-based end products from waste and surplus resources as well as native and cultivated crops. The company’s current commercial systems produce from 250,000 to 5 million gallons of bioethanol or alcohol products per year.
To date, Blume has raised nearly $2m in its series B round, which adds to a $2.2 Series A round closed in 2013 (read here).
