Sunpartner Technologies, an Aix-en-Provence, France-based engineering company specialized in Solar NETs (New Energy Technologies), received a €4m investment from NTT DOCOMO Ventures, the NTT Group’s corporate venture capital firm.
The amount of the deal was not disclosed. The round will be finalized in the second quarter of 2015 to reach €8m (and a total of €35m).
The company intends to use the funds to open an office in Japan beginning of 2015 and sign new agreements with local companies, to continue the investment in R&D by developing the Li-Fi receiver project, the SOLTEX project, based on a photovoltaic textile, and the PURPLE SUN project, a technology adapted to greenhouses applications, and pursue the preparation of the mass production of its new technologies.
Founded in 2008 by Ludovic Deblois, CEO, Sunpartner Technologies develops renewable, independent energy solutions that are integrated into smart surfaces and are invisible. In particular, the company invented the PV technology Wysips®, which transforms any surface into a solar panel that can generate its own electricity from light.
First products integrating Wysips technologies will be launched during 2015 in the field of billboards and signs, casing & smart watch, smart glass & mobile phones.
